SUMMARY
Outdoor Prolink is a members-only pro deal site for professionals working in the outdoor, hunting and fishing industries in the US and Canada. We have a thriving community of over 200,000 professional members with job titles ranging from Ski Patroller, Outdoor Educator, Rafting Guide, Park Ranger, and Wildland Firefighter to Fishing Guide, Hunting Guide, Active Duty Military, Search and Rescue Professionals and beyond. We engage with these members online through Instagram, Facebook, our gear review program, email newsletters, our blog and our e-commerce stores. We are looking for a part-time savvy social media marketer to join our team and run our Instagram account (@outdoorprolink) and various Facebook groups and pages.
Your role on the Outdoor Prolink team will be:
- Advising on social media trends
- Developing social media strategies with our marketing team
- Creating effective and exciting content
- Monitoring success and creating regular reports
- Generating long-term directions for our social media presence
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Marketing Manager and Blog Contractor to develop social media calendars for @outdoorprolink on Instagram and Facebook. Meet weekly to review and execute upon a 3-month rolling calendar of all posts on The Link (The Prolink Blog) and corresponding social media posts. Keep track of holidays and social media holidays and prepare content for those you deem worthy of participating in.
Instagram Marketing:
- Daily engagement including replying to comments, liking posts and answering direct messages for @outdoorprolink
- Create and post at least one Instagram story per day for @outdoorprolink
- Design and post 2-3 Instagram posts per week for @outdoorprolink
- Periodically run Instagram giveaways with support from Marketing Manager
Facebook Marketing:
- Daily engagement for groups + pages, including answering DMs, replying to comments/threads and liking posts/threads
- Each week, select discussion topics/prompts, OPL updates, articles and photos for Outdoor Prolink Facebook pages and our two groups: OPL Gear Testers group and the Outdoor Prolink Community Group
Other Responsibilities:
- Consistently review social media analytics in Instagram, Facebook and Later. Record metrics in a social media performance report on a monthly basis.
- Additional opportunity: Developing content ideas and writing blog posts.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
We think a great fit for the Social Media Contractor role includes most or all of the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Graphic Design, Public Relations or related field
- 2+ years of experience working with social media
- Thorough understanding of all social media platforms and related tools (most importantly: Instagram, Facebook, Later.com)
- Excellent content creation skills
- Deep knowledge of social media analytics
- Familiarity with design tools (Canva, Photoshop)
- Bonus points: a passion for the outdoors and/or a background working in the outdoor industry!
